Marine GPS Unit

Do you need a marine GPS unit? If you regularly go boating you shouldn’t travel without one of these systems. Not only will it help you plan your route and keep you up to date with changes in weather conditions, it can also help the emergency services track you down if you have an accident.

It doesn’t matter how experienced a sailor you are, it is possible for anyone to become disorientated when on the open sea. In the olden days you would have had to rely on a compass or the stars for directions, now you can have a look at your Garmin system.

There are two types of marine gps units, chart plotter and fish finder. The chart plotter are all in one solutions to anything you may need while on the water. They will help you to chart new routes via shallow waters, alert you to changes in weather conditions as well as give details on the location of buoys, rocks or other hazards.

They come with coastal and ocean maps as well as having inbuilt radar and sonar devices. You can use the advanced features to communicate with other sailors to alert them to potential hazards. Obviously the price of the unit will reflect the additional features it contains.

If you love fishing but get frustrated by not being able to find that shoal, buy a fish finder gps system. This device will take the mystery out of fishing by telling you exactly where the fish are located. You simply cannot fail to bring in the catch when you have this on board.

It is used by commercial fisherman as well as amateurs. In addition to locating the shoal, it will also give you information on any hidden hazards in the water. They are extremely easy to use so you won’t have any more excuses for why you can’t bring dinner home!

The type of marine gps unit you need will depend on what you want to use it for. If you are a keen fisherman then the fishfinder gps may be the best. If you are more into exploring the waters, I would probably suggest the chart plotter version.
