Sony Ericsson Hazel and Elm have GPS, GreenHeart greenthumb

Environmentally-friendly electronics are all the rage these days and Sony Ericsson knows this. Hence, the announcement of two new assisted GPS-featuring feature phones under the company’s GreenHeart initiative today. Under the GreenHeart initiative, both the Sony Ericsson Elm and Sony Ericsson Hazel mobile phones are designed to reduce carbon emissions in the production of the devices and the hazardous materials used in their creation. All without compromising the quality of functionality.

The Sony Ericsson Elm and Sony Ericsson Hazel are quite similar in terms of their features. Included are a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and geotagging, turn-by-turn GPS directions from Wisepilot, Google Maps access, social network access, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The mobile phones differ in screen size (2.6 inches for the Hazel as opposed to 2.2 inches for the Elm), size and color options. Both phones work on HSPA 900/2100 and GSM/GPRS 850/900/1800/1900 wireless networks.

The Elm will be available in Q1 2010 while the Hazel will be released in Q2 2010. Both phones come with the option of the Bluetooth Noise Shield Handsfree (Q2 2010) for hands-free calling.
